I’m one of those people who are eternally Brand loyal. I hate to chop and change and have to get to grips with new operating systems, buttons and gadgets. So when I find a Brand I can trust and rely on, I tend to stick with them. Especially when as a busy working mum, I don’t have the time for any nasty surprises. That’s why we lease our cars and always ensure we have a built in service plan, so we have nothing to worry about. Parkway recently asked about our Volkswagen journey and it’s something that has quite genuinely made my family what it is today.
It starts way back in early 2004 when my now husband sold me my first Volkswagen Polo. What a way to meet your future husband! It was my 3rd Volkswagen and it was natural progression having had 2 Lupos prior to that.
As a young female I loved the reliability, quality and security of the cars. I felt safe in them and after my first Lupo met its end after being t-boned by someone jumping a red light, I knew they were tough and had safety at heart.
I stuck with them for years to come. My 4th Volkswagen was yet another Polo, before I hit that mid twenties mark and wanted something a bit different and opted for the Eos convertible. Your don’t get the roof down much in Aberdeen! But it was perfect for my short commute about town.
After getting married to my dreamy car salesman and moving out to the country, the daily commute got longer and I needed something a bit more economical. The switch to Volkswagen number 6, a Golf GT Diesel.
As our family grew in size, Volkswagen number 7 became a more thrifty 5 Door Polo. I was planning to be on maternity leave for a year and needed something to get me out the house during the day.
After heading back to work and living in the wild and very cold countryside we opted for something with 4 wheel drive to survive the harsh winter commutes and so our first Tiguan was welcomed into the family. This was perfect for our family. The back seats have tray tables for car picnics and the seats, including the passenger seat fold flat…which meant I could fit in the shower cubicle in it, when the works pick up truck failed miserably.
Here I am 9th Volkswagen later (another Tiguan) and still with the same brand. I love that there is quite literally a Volkswagen for every stage of your life, from young single female, young professional to family of 3 (with 4th on the way). I can honestly see us sticking with the brand for the foreseeable.
