Holiday Home tour

This is the first year Munch will have much understanding of Christmas and I wanted to fill the season and the house with sparkles and Christmas memories.  So here is my little Holiday home tour!

A little more enthusiastic than normal, the tree went up on the 30th November (I know, I know!)

I was going to wait until she went to bed, but I figured she might enjoy it and so she took great delight in passing the branches as I assembled the tree.  I cracked on with the lights and decorations, whilst she inspected the elf door we bought from The Magic Door Store.

I just love our tree!  It’s very us and as I have a phobia of tinsel (reminiscent of the 80’s when it was literally vomitted upon trees), we have stuck with very subtle glass berries and white sparkly iced string.

As you may have read, this is the first year we are doing Elf on the Shelf.  So, ofcourse he was introduced, alongside his book on Sunday and Munch found him sitting on the tree (not very original granted, but I have to think of places she can’t reach given that ‘touching’ isn’t allowed!).  I let Munch name him and she came out with a very unique and original name.  Step back ‘Elfie’ and ‘Santas Helper’, we can now introduce you to……’Lady’ the Elf!

You can see him here in December 1st and December 2nd positions.

Now for the rest of the house.  If you have read about our quirky house layout you’ll know that we mainly live down in the open plan kitchen.  Rather than go for another full size tree.  I was lucky enough to win these cards on twitter by the very talented designer Claire Hartley, so I have chosen to frame them and use them as a back drop for the mini tree that we use down there.

I upcycled my white feather wreath that I’ve had since I was a student by adding some sparkly branches I found at the bottom of the decorations box and popped another berry wreath find over my dining area candle, to finish things off.

With the house now positively full of festive cheer, all that was left to do was for Munch to write her list to Santa.

Have a good holiday everyone!  xx
