We moved into this house 2 years ago and I can’t decide whether to be pleased or not with the progress we’ve made inside.  We have certainly done a lot for our budget, but I guess feeling like I hadn’t ‘finished’ any one room was raining on my parade.  So I was delighted when Four Walls Blog challenged me to revamp a room in the house with £100.

After deliberating which room to choose…it had to be the guest bedroom.  It was one of the few rooms that didn’t require DIY intervention and therefore something I knew I could finish myself.

Here is the room before the challenge.  After we moved in, we painted all the woodwork white, carpeted the entire upstairs and painted every room white.  As you can see, we had already wallpapered a feature wall in here with Ferm Living paper. Besides moving in the furniture, the room has just stayed like that for 18 months.

The one thing I wasn’t going to be able to do as part of the challenge was replace the oak furniture.  You know when something cost a lot of money at the time, so you hang on to it…this bedroom furniture set was one of those purchases.  It was originally in our bedroom, actually the hubs had it in his flat when we met.  Our styles have come a long way in that time.  But right now, we don’t have the budget to replace furniture in a room we don’t really use.  I’m open to suggestions though..chalk paint?

Anyway…after deciding the furniture was staying, it was time to hit pinterest and plan out how to best spend the £100.  Here is what I came up with…

I was quite surprised at where I managed to get my room accessories and after doing my sums, I had to lose the ‘love’ sign (which was only £9 in New Look for anyone who is wondering)…Tesco for the duvet set (£20 for the double), the 2 little succulents £3 each (Tesco), Spikey Aloe plant £4 (Tesco), Cushions (Dog £4.50, pink £4.50, both Tesco), Giraffe print £3 (Etsy), Ribba frame (£1.50 charity shop), Wooden box (£1.50 H&M), Gold ‘&’ £20 (Rockett St George), Pretty Little Thing print £12 (Rockett St George), Pink runner £5 (TK Maxx), Star light £18 (TK Maxx).

And here is the finished look…

I really like the pops of pink and green and the wooden box and copper ‘&’ helps to pull in the oak.

Disclosure: I was provided with the £100 to complete the room revamp as part of the challenge.
