This month has been hectic, with no sign of it clearing up either. So when we were invited by Apex Hotels to stay at one of their beautiful hotels, we all jumped at the chance. The timing couldn’t have been better either. After Scott returned from a long week in London and me a bustling solo week as a result, all 4 of us were in dire need of some R&R. Someone to take care of everything so we could, switch off, recharge our batteries and spend some quality time as a family.
We opted for Dundee, as it wasn’t too far a drive for us and there has been a lot of changes recently in Dundee in the whole Tay Bridge area, so we thought it was worth a look! So after a short hour or so we arrived at Apex City Quay to be looked after.
We had a gorgeous corner family room with the most stunning of views (if you can, request the side facing the Quay). Everything we needed was there… From dressing gowns & slippers to rubber ducks for the bath. Everything we could possibly need for a family relaxation stay.
Any parent will know that first thing on anyone’s list when you visit a hotel is the pool. We were advised that the onsite pool was being renovated, which actually turned out to be the best thing for the kids, as they had already made arrangements for us to get access to the all singing, all dancing Olympia pool across the road… Complete with disco light flumes and toddler play pool. I want to say the girls were in their element, but I think we all were!
After a rather mighty flume session, we headed back to get ready for dinner.
There is an onsite restaurant and bar, which took the stress out of making arrangements and travelling anywhere… After all, we were here for a chill fest. There was an exceptional menu, which was hard to choose from. But one thing we did ask, was for all the starters and mains to come at the same time, as MM was already starting to flag by this point… We were all feeling the strain of a busy week!
After eating we headed straight upstairs and it was jammie time! We clicked on The Voice and ate Pringles and chocolate ducks in bed before all 4 of us fell fast asleep on the fluffiest pillows ever.
Had we not fallen promptly asleep I would have gone for a trademark ultimate relaxed room service breakfast… But sadly we had to get dressed and go downstairs… But wow, what a spread! Not that I got much of a chance to eat anything after both my attempts got swiftly eaten by MM.
All in all it was a fleeting, but perfectly lazy stay. The cherry on top for me would have been to have opted for room service dinner and breakfast, but I think we might have risked cabin fever if we’d relaxed that much!
Disclosure: We were invited to stay at the Apex Hotel to celebrate their Easter Offer, but all opinions are our own.
