We live in a little remote place just north of Aberdeen (which considering it’s not only the oil capital of Europe but was pretty much the centre of the Scottish referendum Yes campaign, has quite possibly the worst amenities you can get in a city).  This means that we struggle for things to do to entertain Munch at the weekend.  As such we tend to visit the same tourist traps in the area.

Day trips and souvenirs

Obviously this can be costly, as every daytrip usually involves a lunch/dinner out and without fail comes with a root around the souvenir shop.

Don’t worry, we don’t spoil Munch with endless nik naks from day trips. We try to pick books, something educational and then every now and then something she absolutely falls in love with.  She isn’t one to grab and want everything in the shop.  All she wants to do is investigate what everything does (I’m sensing a future engineer for said oil & gas industry!)

So we will continue to have our day trips and add to our memories.  I just hope that more family friendly places open up in Aberdeen….PLEASE! (Oh and an IKEA would be nice too!)

  1. Phahaha, you don’t want an ikea and if you do, leave her at home! I easy spend an extra £20-£30 if I take Tia as she wants everything lol! I used to love looking in all the little souvenir shops when I was a child. I grew up in Brighton so my shelfs were full of collected shells and pretty stones.
