It’s the first of the month again, so it’s time for another Bloggers’ Homes feature (and link up). I want to take the time to thank you all for joining in this last 6 months. I really enjoy taking a look around other homes and seeing ‘behind the scenes’. For those who link up blog posts, do check below for the winner of the Rockett St George voucher.
This month we are featuring the lovely Molly from Mother’s Always Right. I have the pleasure of working with Molly over on Roost (a family interiors blog), so it’s exciting to get a peek inside not just her home, but the epicentre of Roost…her home office!
What do you love most about the room?
I love the light in here – it’s a small back room that we’ve converted from what was formerly the utlities room. It backs onto the garden and has a window along the edge of the end wall, meaning light floods in throughout the day. There’s also a window in the back door and a tiny side window too, so we get lots of light. When I’m stuck for ideas I often find myself gazing out into the back garden, looking for inspiration!
I also love the big desk. We made it (well, the husband and my dad did) to fit perfectly along one edge of the room. We have to share the space as a double office, so no desk we could find was quite right. We chose to paint the desk in bright gloss yellow to add some colour to the room. Yellow’s a recurring theme in our house.
What do you wish you did differently? (If anything)
In an ideal world this would be MY space and not one I have to share with my husband! He’s pretty messy and his side of the desk is often cluttered with wires or marking (he’s a teacher) or empty coffee cups. I’d love to switch the art around on the walls – he chose some retro prints of old school computer games and geeky stuff he loves. Not my taste at all! But I guess it’s all about compromise….!
What room is next on your list?
Once we finally finish our bedroom (the overhaul’s been going on for 6 months!!) we plan to tackle the kitchen. We can’t afford to rip the old units out and replace it all, which is what I’d love to do, so we’re going to have to get very clever and creative with the space to turn it into a functional and beautiful room that works for us until we can afford to invest in a totally new look.
