I have a wedding this weekend, so time to polish up another favourite work hair style of mine…The Cheats Chignon.
A perfect easy updo for long hair, this style works great for all those days when you can’t be bothered or in a hurry. But by doing this on freshly straightened hair, you can make this in a style for all those Christmas parties coming up.
Approx time to do 10 minutes
What you will need:
- Hair elastic
- Kirby grips/Bobby pins
- Hair spray
Firstly section off about an inch portion of hair above each ear.
Then collect the remaining hair and secure with a hair elastic. I’ve shown this centred at the nape of my neck, but really, you could style this to the side, or higher up.
Next, poke your fingers up through the pony, above the elastic and pass the ponytail down through and pull tight. Anyone who was a child in the 90’s will remember this well!
Section the new ponytail into two.
Loop the first section up and attach with as many kirby grips/bobby pins as you need (I use one).
Repeat this with the other section of hair.
Now take one of the front sections of hair and pull this over the top of the chignon to the opposing side and pin around and under.
Repeat this with the other side.
Now pull across a small piece from the bottom of the left side of the chignon and pin in place to close the gap and repeat on the right side. This will close off each side.
Go around and tuck and pin any loose hairs and finish with hair spray.
You’re ready to go!
As I said, this works really well on messy hair too, for a more trendy look.

I woke up to 3C this morning, which means it is officially time to pack away those Summer clothes for Munch and invest in some Winter wardrobe essentials to get her through the cold spell.
I’ve spied the above online that I will be buying when pay day happens. I was really surprised at H&M, which I’ve seen in store but the selection online is far better.
What’s your Winter wardrobe essentials for your little ones?
I have spent the last few weeks tweaking my blog to the point of distraction. I think I can now say I am happy with it!
Part of my design journey saw me routing around for social media icons that matched my theme. I couldn’t find any in my colour palette, so I made my own!
I’ve decided to share these as free download png files (although I would appreciate if you could pin the above image) and I will bring you new designs as time goes on, so watch this space!
I have included 7 icons in total for each colour, all 45px; facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest, google+, rss and email. If you would like to see others in future downloads, just let me know in the comments section.
This time round, the free social media icons are Autumn themed. We have burnt orange, grey, pumpkin orange and leaf green. Just click to download the colour of your choice below!
