Here is my quick and easy microwave cheese sauce recipe
I love cheese sauce… So it goes without saying that my favourite dish is Mac & Cheese! Ever since I was little I just loved it! My mum would even make me my own cheese sauce lasange when I was little (hate mince!) So it was one of the dishes I missed when I left home. Anytime I attempt to make it, It always end up lumpy and I have to get the hand blender out to save the day. Ofcourse the one thing you try to achieve when cooking for a family is quick meals and to use the least amount of dishes!
I then remembered that the one time I had managed to make it, was back at University when one of the girls in my dorm had a microwave recipe. It was fail safe and tasted much better than the blended attempts I had been making. So I set about working this out, so I could add this classic back on the menu in our house.
So I’m happy to say I’ve come up with a microwave cheese sauce recipe that is just as quick as heating up a jar of sauce and obviously tastes far better! But most importantly, it’s a one container recipe!
Microwave Cheese Sauce Recipe
- 4 tbsp butter
- 350 ml milk
- 4 tbsp plain flour
- 200 gr grated cheese Add more or less to your preference
Place the butter in a microwave safe container and melt in the microwave for 60 seconds.
Then add the plain flour and milk to the melted butter and whisk together before stirring in the cheese.
Return the container to the microwave and cook on full power for up to 3 minutes, stopping every 30 seconds to whisk.
Stop when you have reached the right thickness.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
