Well it’s almost been 3 years and finally I have finished the home office and can do a grand reveal (well, with the exception of the floor… but we’re all friends here!)industrial home office tour

As many of you will know, I run my own company alongside my blog… so there is plenty of working from home going on.  I was crying out for a little bit of a HQ for all my bits and pieces that come with the job and just to have somewhere to put all the paperwork that we all get too.  We had an office in our last house, but it was effectively in the basement and so had no windows.  It was a great space, but rather depressing to spend time in.  I feel rather spoiled now, as although it’s only a small space, I have not one but two windows.  Which makes it a fantastically bright and airy room.  So it’s a joy to spend time in here.

It is located just off of our kitchen/family room, as it is the original pantry.  If you didn’t already know, we stay in a converted 18th century farmhouse, hence the rather deep window sills and very odd height and sizing of the windows.  This is ideal, as it means that we aren’t sacrificing a bedroom and being just off the kitchen means I have excellent access for making cups of coffee.  It’s also handy for if I need to send a quick email in the evening, as I don’t feel like I’m leaving the family area.

I have done a video tour of the room, if you would like to watch that….You can see ‘behind the scenes’.  You can also see the size and layout of the room a bit better in a video.  Photo’s can be rather deceptive when it comes to getting a feel for the space.

I have to say a massive thanks to my fantastic husband, who have slaved over this one in the evenings and weekends, even whilst I was effectively bedridden with my back.  It may have taken over a year to come together, but in that time it has been used as a store for the kitchen renovation, so we’ll allow that.

  1. Absolutely LOVE it Pamela! Looks like the perfect place to shut yourself away and crack on! I also like the proximity to the kitchen – my home office (if it is ever finished (1 year and counting!)) is upstairs, so there’s going to be lots of running up and down. Still, I suppose it will keep me fit! I cannot wait to be able to actually work in there, so so sick of our dining room table, especially since at the moment it is also playing host to a table saw so there is dust everywhere! The table saw is for cutting the shelves for the office though so progress is at last being made!
Love your big deep window-sills – great for storage! Ours is the same, I am planning to make a seat cushion and make a little reading nook, which will no doubt be taken over by the dogs, but I can always turf them off! x

  2. Such a beautiful space! My home office is next on the agenda & you’ve really inspired me 🙂 Off to check out Rockett St George….

  3. Looks great! I’m currently working on our home office (I have finally taken over the children’s play room now that they are older) but in my urgency to claim the space, I moved all my office furniture in without decorating first! Must get on that!! I love your wallpaper and the stacked boxes in the window! #HomeEtc xx

  4. Looks absolutely beautiful, you must be so pleased!! I can only imagine how desperate you’ve been for a designated space and now you have it, fab X #HomeEtc

  5. I absolutely love it and am very inspired by this as I am about to embark on the same project. You have shone the light that I needed to see!! #HomeEtc

  6. This looks really lovely. I love having a little workspace to escape to, but have found myself working at the dining room table again. I must make sure I get back in there!!

  7. OMG I love it, it’s stunning! I love all the little accessories and the wallpaper. I would love a home office as i also run my business from home but there’s just no space at the moment so I work from the breakfast bar. We’re currently saving the convert the loft for the teenager so eventually I will have the spare room once everyone moves into their new rooms when the loft is complete 🙂 #HomeEtc
