As the major renovations are getting ticked off my list (finally), I have scheduled in a decorator to do our hallway.
Our hallway has very high pitched ceilings in places. The transition from wall to ceiling tends to be a very clearly defined edge in these situations. However, when our house was built, it must have been fashionable to merge this into a continuing curve. Making it extremely difficult to decorate as it emphasises the contrast more than normal. Hence getting in the experts!
That aside, I’ve been putting together some ideas to execute when the time comes. So let me show you what I’m dreaming about…
I am completely head over heels in love with Herringbone flooring at the moment. Our Stairs and upper hall without a doubt will be carpeted for comfort, but for the downstairs hallway and entrance way I have grand visions of a striking herringbone wooden floor or tiles.
After scouting the interior magazines for sometime, I have a great fondness for the industrial style lighting trend.
We are lucky to have a light bright hallway, thanks to a couple of Velux windows. They let in so much light. I want to make the most of the luxury of natural daylight, as our last house had a very dark hallway. They are however very high up, so I’d love to gadget them up a bit and get a remote for ventilation purposes.
I am not a fan of clutter, which is difficult with a young family. However with organised storage spaces and well thought out decor, I’d love to create a ‘wow’ entrance hall.
I can’t wait to act out on my dream hall and make my imagination come to life.
Disclousure: This post was in association with Velux Windows, but all dreams are 100% mine
