I think one of the big ‘pros’ for living in the country is the outside space. We are never far away from a fun field, tumbling hill or enchanted forest. With the summer well and truly making an appearance (hurrah!), we are really enjoying spending more and more time outside as a family.
One of our favourite places to explore is the local forestry centre. There is always so much to do, including an indoor play area. By far our favourite thing to do is go on a bear hunt. It takes me right back to when I used to read the Faraway Tree book as a child.
It’s amazing the imagination that kids have. The wonder and the fun they can discover in everything. It’s unfortunate that it sadly fades with age. I try to see things through Munch’s eyes as much as a can when we go exploring though…remembering how the simple things such as branches or a muddy puddle are actually a magical wand and a fairy seaside resort.
We like to go off the beaten track…after all, that’s where the bears are…right?! Off we traipse, welly boots on and wide eyes for bear spotting. Remember to look behind every tree.
If the mud gets too squelchy…don’t panic…the giant will carry you across!
It’s great being able to spend hours here and because it’s on our doorstep, we can nip down at any point in the day. Fantastic after being stuck indoors for so long. So with the sun brings plenty of opportunity to explore the great outdoors and carve some more memories whilst they’re young enough to imagine.
