There is a bit of a trend for the mismatched patterned plates at the moment. If you’ve ever seen Lucy (Capture by Lucy) place settings, you will see how bringing odd plates and various other crockery together can look truly wonderful. I never thought I’d say that, being a bit particular, but it really works.
I’ve been drooling over the patterned plate trend this past month and discovered some absolute gems! Monochrome is a favourite of mine, as you can tell. I guess that’s my underlying uniformity kicking in. But there are an array of plate colours out there depending on your colour palette and style.
The key to mismatch plates is to keep to similar colours or themes. I could hardly add a colourful oriental pattern into the mix above. However a black and white pattern would work.
Look out for gilt edging too. Adds a touch of something special to your dinner plates, but be mindful of being dishwasher safe!

The geometric home accessories trend has been around a while now, so I can’t believe I’m only just giving it credit!
I’m a lover of geometric home ideas. Infact if you stay tuned for Munch’s new bedroom tour, you’ll see where my inspiration came from!
Whether you decide you want to make the commitment and go for geometric shaped furniture in your house, or you want to go smaller and perhaps just change bedding and crockery, you won’t be short of ideas or price points to welcome this trend into your home.
I particularly like the little hidden geometry in the legs of the well known and loved Eiffel style chair. These subtle design ideas really make for iconic furniture that will stand the test of many trends.
So, what do you think about geometric home decor?
