Time for Splurge Vs Save. Showing you that you can have a stylish home for less.
This weeks Splurge Vs Save inspiration came from my beloved Rockett St George. Although on the whole they sell some affordable items, they stock some spectacular one of a kind art pieces that I, for one, could never afford to buy.
Badge Art Splurge
Take the above fabulous Brigitte Herrod badge art for example. Absolutely beautiful, but at a steep £1,500 for the 120cmx120cm version, I knew I had to find another way if I was going to own such a splendid piece for art.
Hail, Rockett St George also do a smaller 60cmx60cm version, at a less eye watering £185. Then I remembered that I had a stash of badges for when I was a kid. I used to collect them and had well over 100. Infact I got my Girl Guides collectors badge for that!
Badge Art Save
Could I actually make this? I’ll try anything once. I managed to get a cheap canvas from ebay for £33.95 (100cmx100cm) and after some dry runs, the glue gun came out. Hey presto! I actually managed it and it makes it that bit more special that each of these badges have a memory attached to them.
As you can see I went a step further and had it framed, which did cost me £120.
But on the whole, like for like, I’d say that’s a pretty good saving….£1466!
