The start of a New Year is synonymous with taking stock, setting goals and reflection. I try not to make resolutions per se, however one of my ‘goals’ or ambitions was to move with the times and dip my toe into the big scary world of vlogging on You Tube. I’ve been sharpening my video editing pencil since the last year and it’s something that I, bizarrely, quite enjoy. It can be time consuming, but I get so engrossed in it that hours literally fly out the window.Continue reading
Nothing kills productivity quite like procrastination. Whether it’s social media, ‘recalling the time when…’ or the biggest one of all self doubt.
Now, I wrote a while ago about ‘giving myself a break‘ and I’ve yet to learn the art of this completely. I think deep down we are always our own worst enemy, when we should be our biggest advocate. This is especially hard when you are your business, because the big comparison always creeps in and if you’re not clever, can see you get completely off course….but that’s a whole other post!

I’m well and truly into what will be my 4th year at blogging and during that time it has grown from weekend hobby into a career for me. It’s strange, because although it’s now firmly a staple part of ‘what I do’ it always feels a bit surreal to say it and ofcourse to be doing something that ticks so many of ‘my ideal’ boxes makes me feel very humble and lucky.
It was a challenging time when I got made redundant 18 months ago… something that has affected many families in the North of Scotland due to the oil downturn. It was a darkness that sadly cast a shadow over what was also a very happy time in our family life, with little MM joining our family. The whole point of maternity leave is to get to know your new little person and adapt to a new way of life. I was very lucky to still be entitled to SMP, so that was a blessing. But there was this ticking time bomb of ‘what next?’Continue reading
I just adore instagram. It is by far one of my favourite social platforms at the moment and I love nothing more that trawling down my timeline and whiling away the hours with a coffee and some of the amazing accounts I follow.
I discovered the months instagram crush through blogging a little community I created called #bloggershomes. It’s runs alongside a monthly interior link up I host here on my blog and is a delightful corner of instagram where bloggers/vloggers…anyone really, can tag their interior images for a bit of extra home love. Each week I select my favourites and do a round up on my feed.Continue reading
There is nothing more cleansing than a New Year… A fresh page… A reality check and a good old fashioned kick up the bottom.
I’m not necessarily one to set myself a strict set of resolutions, that would be setting myself up for failure. However there is one thing I like to do and that is have a bit of a general life review and take stock. Spend more time with the people who are good for me and more time doing what I love. This year, I know where I’m headed and I know how I’m getting there. Last year started in a redundancy filled haze and I could have only dreamed of the opportunities that lie ahead of me now in 2017. Somehow, we managed to turn that ship around. It’s a stark reminder of what’s important and the realisation that I need to adapt to this new balance and enjoy it.Continue reading
