I don’t expect violins, but the reality of working solo means no Christmas party… Except I don’t work solo. I may be the driving force on this here blog, but without the rest of my little famalam it wouldn’t be here! So to me that sounds like the perfect company for a blog Christmas Party!
The lovely people at Giraffe World Kitchen, got in touch to ask if we would like to try out their Christmas menu. And so the scene was set for our very impromptu blogger family Christmas party!
Their Christmas menu was really tempting, with flavours from around the globe, all with a festive twist to bring about some holiday cheer.
To start we had the stuffed chiles en nogada (Green pepper stuffed with minced beef, covered in red pepper sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds) and also the noche buena salad (fried corn fritter with beetroot, basil dressing, crispy Noche Buena salad and scattered pomegranate seeds), whilst the girls went straight in for their brioche burgers and fries. I always appreciate when you get the option to bring the kids meals as soon as they are ready… We all know how impatient kids can be. Although both were thoroughly entertained by crackers, hats and music!
Both starters looks and tasted amazing! We may have pinched a few fries when waiting for our starters (which were later regretted!)
For mains we opted for the middle eastern salmon (Pan-fried, spiced salmon on a bed of Moroccan couscous with traditional Middle Eastern vegetables and a sprinkling of Zatar spices and pomegranate seeds) and the turkey schtinsel burger (Breaded turkey escalope topped with bacon, brie, lettuce, tomato and apple & cranberry relish on a brioche bun. Served with skin-on fries).
I think hubs had food envy when he saw the height of the towering turkey stack that arrived for me… But he needn’t have, because I only managed half of it (men love to eat the left overs!)
Wearing my tightest of skinny jeans wasn’t the best idea!
The girls had a great time playing with the little giraffe’s that come with the drinks. Making little beds for them from napkins. I think they may have actually ordered more drinks, just for the giraffe!
By the time pudding came, we were all stuffed! We shared a couple of rounds of panettone, because it’s not Christmas until you dig into one of them!
It was a great meal out and a fabulous excuse to have a blog Christmas party to celebrate everything that we’ve achieved this year on this little Ole’ blog. Award nominations, UK top 20 placing and even television adverts… Our minds are truly blown!
Thank you so much Giraffe for helping us celebrate a great 2017 and to some of the best work buddies I could ever hope for!
Disclosure: Giraffe invited us to their Aberdeen restaurant, but all comments are genuine… Even MM’s dancing on the table.
